A Dobo's Delights Specialty!
Pronounced: [ DOH-bohsh ]
Also Dobos Torta: this rich torte is made by stacking 8 extra-thin layers of génoise (sponge cake) spread with chocolate buttercream. The top is covered with a hard caramel glaze.
Despite the similarity, dobos is not the same as Dobo's. Our Hungarian name is Dobo, while 'dobos' means 'like a drum' in Hungarian. Hence the drum shape of the traditional torte. The Dobos Torte was actually created by Austrian pastry chef Josef Dobos, which also isn't the same as Dobo.
